I am no longer silent about this. It is too important. I am sad that I ever was, that i was scared and ashamed, and that I didn’t know what was going on with me a long time ago.
I am vocal with as much as I can so that maybe someone who is lost and can’t figure it out may see some similarities and either talk to me or someone.
I have so many people come to me that have mental illness or have a loved one that does. I am so glad that they do, it means that my coming out is helping more than those who come to me with questions, it is helping those who are afraid to, but are seeing something that maybe they need to get looked at.
It sounds ridiculously pedestrian but YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Ever.
Peter told me something recently, that helped me immensely.
He told me that yes, mental illness is a disease like leukemia or diabetes etc, but then you need to treat it like that.
Don’t ignore it, or think it will go away. Go to the people who can help you. No, there isn’t a cure, but there are ways to make life worth more and feel worth.
You wouldn’t just hope diabetes or cancer or any other physical issue to just disappear without help, same with mental illness.
